As a result of continued growth, we are currently seeking candidates for an Estimator to support the Fire Alarm department at our office in Auburn, ME. As a Fire Alarm Estimator, you will play a critical role in our fire protection team by evaluating fire alarm system requirements for various construction and renovation projects. Your primary responsibilities will include analyzing blueprints, performing site visits, and preparing detailed cost estimates for fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with all national and local fire safety codes. You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to provide accurate and competitive proposals. A strong understanding of fire alarm systems, excellent analytical skills, and proficiency in estimating software are essential for success in this role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare estimates and bid proposals based on evaluation of construction documents.
  • Contact customers and potential customers to determine fire protection needs and evaluate installation options.
  • Build relationships with customers to capture a full range of fire protection services throughout all departments.
  • Assist in developing and carrying out sales strategies.
  • Perform preliminary survey of existing buildings to determine costs associated with the installation of fire protection services.
  • Perform preliminary hydraulic analysis of sprinkler systems to ensure sale price accuracy.
  • Provide project management duties when assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Good communication skills both oral and written when working with all levels of management and employees, clients, external vendors and other business associates. Clearly communicates directions and information. Speaks effectively before groups as well as individuals. Must have good interpersonal skills. Cognitive discipline.
  • Microsoft Office Suite, any hydraulic calculation program
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • Six months to one-year related experience and/or training
