Food Facility Sanitation and Maintenance Worker

Introduction:
Davis Veterinary Medical Consulting, Inc. DBA Balance It is a small but diverse California Benefit Corporation with 18+ employees (9 onsite and 9 remote) that includes three engineers and numerous veterinary professionals on our staff. We are a third-party, GFSI-recognized certified & FDA-registered human dietary supplement manufacturer and online software developer used globally by 10,000s of veterinarians. Our focus is the veterinary market with various patented products designed for healthy & sick dogs and cats.
We have a custom-built, renewable energy-powered 9600 sf facility located in Woodland, CA (next to Davis & Sacramento) that offers employees a work environment with very high cleanliness standards, plenty of natural lighting, respect for employee growth, work/home life balance, and much more! We offer a competitive pay rate, a full-time, 36 hour work week (with employees only working 4 hours every Friday), and excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, & retirement plans, sick/vacation accrual, tuition reimbursement program, and many paid holidays.
We currently have a position for a Food Facility Sanitation and Maintenance Worker who has experience in a processed/ready-to-eat (RTE) food, human dietary supplement, and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. As a pivotal part of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety, directly impacting the well-being of thousands of dogs and cats everyday. Job description:
As a Food Facility Sanitation and Maintenance Worker, you will be trained on the proper techniques of cleaning and maintaining all areas of our food facility, the preventative maintenance of our equipment, keeping our warehouse organized, and many c GMP requirements. In time, you will also be cross trained in some, if not all, production tasks including in our open product areas (aka clean rooms) in order to be back up if/when needed.
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
Work Hours: 08:00 AM to 04:30 PM Monday through Thursday (with a half hour lunch, and two 10-minute breaks), Fridays 08:00 AM to 12:00 PM (with one 10-minute break); During initial training may start at 07:00 AM for the first month or so to overlap with key training personnel.

Job description:

Tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Follow the daily cleaning schedule to perform and document all facility cleaning, sanitation, and custodial duties on time
- Follow the preventative maintenance (aka PM) schedule to perform & document all PM on time
- Keep the warehouse organized
- Conduct and document routine pest station inspections between PCO visits
- Pack, count, re-palletize, shrink wrap, and store in warehouse pallet racking production runs and document on batch production records
- Retrieve and count released production runs for use by our Fulfillment team
- Perform documented recycling and destruction of waste & expired materials
- Safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks
- Follow all written and verbal work instructions and SOPs
- Previous sanitation, custodial and maintenance experience
- Able to work independently AND in small group when needed
- Excellent time management skills
- Professional and courteous communication
- Strong work ethic with punctual daily attendance habits
- Must be able to repeatedly lift and carry boxes up to 55 pounds
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English required
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship
- The ability to pass a fit-for-duty physical exam, background check, and drug screening for illegal drugs in California prior to being hired
- Starting wage: $23.00 per hour
- 36 hour work week, but full-time pay and benefits
