Freight Broker

Dispatch and plan a small fleet of drivers, including brokering loads to ensure the fleet is productive. This will include but is not limited to, planning the drivers’ day, handling any issues that may arise with the drivers, customer service, maintaining the load data, and some billing.
Qualification
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar capacity, preferably in the chemical or hazmat logistics business
- Experience working on SAP Transport Management and People Net software is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team
- DOT knowledge and experience
- Account Management experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficient negotiating skills
- Demonstrated ability to meet sales targets
- Minimum 2 years experience working for brokerage/load boards
- Legally permitted to work in the United States
- Must pass Drug Screening Test, Physical, and Background Tests

- Capable of learning new software in a short time
- Should be fluent in English, Bi-lingual in Spanish highly preferred.
Job Tasks
- Generate leads and attract new prospects to develop a sales pipeline
- Identify opportunities to obtain new clients and increase current client contracts
- Achieve annual revenue goals for assigned book of business through retention and growth as set by management
- Generate transportation rate quotes for new customers or new lanes
- Internal coordination with TALKE operation and finance teams
- Understand market conditions to book orders with customers/brokers
- Plan and dispatch drivers for loads
- Track status of loads
- Collaborate with brokers, shippers, and consignees to manage scheduled collections and drop-offs
- Utilizing logistics software accurately to manage freight schedules, track shipments, and resolve any issues that may incur.
- Update customers on the status of shipments and assist with other inquiries
- Maintain current knowledge of market trends in the transportation marketplace
- Regularly update stakeholders regarding project progress, system health, user proficiency, and other related metrics
- Negotiate freight rates with customers and carriers, ensuring competitive pricing rates.
