Trump Winery and Albemarle Estate is seeking a professional, energetic, and enthusiastic Garden and Grounds Manager to oversee the maintenance and enhancement of our extensive grounds, landscaping, and gardens. This full-time position will be responsible for managing the landscaping department, coordinating with the maintenance team, and ensuring the aesthetic and functional quality of our outdoor spaces. Since there is guest interaction, the individual in this role will need to exhibit adequate communication skills, and will always be expected to project a professional attitude.

Location: Albemarle Estate at Trump Winery in Charlottesville, VA - 15 minutes south of Charlottesville city limits or Trump Winery in Charlottesville, VA - 15 minutes south of Charlottesville city limits
Hours: Full-time, regularly scheduled 40 hours/week - Monday thru Friday 7AM to 3:30PM
Wage: $22.00/hr to $25.00/hr, based on experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Grounds Management: Manage estate’s gardens and grounds by completing and overseeing all tasks included but not limited to: weeding, watering, planting, sweeping, raking, snow removal, edging, shrub bed renewal/installation/repair, mulching, seeding, exterior/interior plant care, trimming, pruning, transplanting, propagation of plant material, composting, firewood management, irrigation management, arboriculture and horticultural chemical usage
• Team Leadership: Supervise and lead the landscaping team, providing direction, support, and training as needed.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the maintenance department and other department managers to ensure seamless operations and high standards of property upkeep.
• Planning and Design: Develop and implement landscape design plans and seasonal maintenance schedules to enhance the property’s visual appeal and functionality.
• Budget Management: Prepare and manage the budget for landscaping and grounds maintenance, including ordering supplies and managing expenses.
• Vendor Coordination: Source and manage relationships with external vendors and contractors for specialized landscaping and maintenance services.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensure all grounds and landscaping activities comply with safety regulations and environmental guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in grounds management, landscaping, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
• Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills, excellent organizational and project management abilities, and a keen eye for detail.
• Knowledge: Proficiency in landscape design principles, plant care, greenhouse & irrigation systems, and grounds maintenance techniques.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks associated with grounds management and work in various weather conditions.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and other departments.
