Summary
The ideal candidate must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations and service standards.
- Knowledge of all menu items and accompaniments.
- Ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items.
- Basic knowledge of the English language sufficient to understand inquiries from customers and communicate preparation methods. Ability to comprehend written product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes within the hotel.
- Ability to operate a keyboard to input Point of Sale procedures to pre-check, input orders, and close out the check.
Essential Functions
Job duties include, although are not limited to:
- Promptly answer Room Service calls, announce any specials, promote menu items and answer questions regarding preparation methods.
- Work remotely from Ocean Market, while assisting guests in that area
- Document orders, repeat items back to callers to ensure accuracy and quote expected arrival time with speed and accuracy.
- Immediately input order information into point-of-sale system, allowing kitchen staff to begin preparation; note any special requests clearly. Give food server hard copy of check to be delivered with order.
- Process payment for orders upon return of the Room Service Server.
- Comply with accounting guidelines regarding receipt of payments, check total verification, tip disbursement, cash drawer and house bank management. Maintain house bank in accordance with policy.
- Answer calls for pick-up of trays and/or tables and direct bus persons to retrieve items.
- Respond to customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer, and providing positive and proactive solutions
- Attends required meetings.
- Adhere to all company standards related to members, guests, and associates experience
- Follow all safety standards
Internal Relationships
Reports to culinary, stewards & restaurant management.
External Relationships
Has regular contact with guests.
Qualifications
- Previous customer service, telephone and order taking experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language sufficient to understand menus, special promotions, record orders, and communicate with guests to explain and record orders.
- Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
Education/Experience Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred
- Prefer six (6) months to one-year previous hospitality or customer service experience.
- Must obtain any government required licenses or certificates. Examples include a Washington Health Card Permit; Oregon Liquor Service Permit; Alcohol Service Permit. CPR certification and/or 1st Aid Training preferred.
Grooming/Uniform
All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained as a part of the orientation process.
Physical Requirements
Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. It requires walking or standing to a significant degree, as well as reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
