Insurance Verification & Authorization Coordinator I

Insurance Verification & Authorization Coordinator I Responsibilities:
-
Obtain and document detailed, accurate benefit and authorization information through payer portals, phone, or fax.

Validate patient information and input into EMR to reduce write-offs and ensure accurate record-keeping.

Conduct daily monitoring and updates related to insurance verification, Medicare eligibility, and reauthorization needs.

Perform monthly reverification for Medicaid and other insurances to check for payer or HMO status changes.
-
Coordinate with clinical staff and scheduling on authorization, insurance discrepancies, and funding issues.
-
Maintain knowledge of payer portals and handle patient or provider inquiries related to benefits and authorizations.
-
Support billing by resolving insurance and authorization discrepancies that affect claims.
-
Additional responsibilities as directed by supervisor, including holiday and after-hours work as needed.
Insurance Verification & Authorization Coordinator I Requirements:

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
-
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and Third Party Insurance and Authorization Requirements
-
Knowledge of insurance websites
-
Knowledge of Home Care Home Base is preferred
-
Conscientious with attention to detail
-
Demonstrates patience, flexibility and cooperative attitude
-
Effective verbal and written communication skills with others both internally and externally
-
Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
Insurance Verification & Authorization Coordinator I Experience:
-
Associates Degree or combination of experience and business courses is preferred.
-
Minimum of one (1) year of previous experience in insurance verification, authorization or medical billing.
