IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST

Duties
  • You will carry out major assignments in conducting the operations of the Cybersecurity section of the Compliance Branch.
  • You will perform a wide variety of functions on a wide variety of Cyber issues.
  • You will draft and publish policy directives, design standards and procedures pertaining to system security architecture as it applies to Cyber Security, and associated documentation and reporting within the Marine Corps
  • You will develop policy, programs, and guidelines for implementation and analyze organizational cyber policy.
  • You will assess policy needs and collaborate with stakeholders to develop policies to govern cyber activities.

  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area Cyberspace Workforce level Intermediate within 12 months of appointment.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: ability to perform impact/risk assessments; provide technical oversight and direction for technology solutions, identification, implementation, and validation; and, applying standard policies and procedures to the development and administration of cybersecurity architecture, risk management framework, and cyberspace operations.

Your experience must must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. See the following:

1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: auditing systems for security compliance.

2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: providing guidance to customers regarding security issues/vulnerabilities.

3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: recommending improvements for operating processes.

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Resolving cybersecurity incidents.

Employee shall obtain and maintain the proper Cyberspace Workforce (CSWF) certification for cybersecurity position, as required in Do DD 8140.01 and Do D 8570.01-M. Upon request from the Deputy Branch Head, IC4/ICC CY, the employee shall provide documentation supporting the CSWF certification status. The employee and his or her supervisor shall ensure the employee maintains certification status. Certification and required maintenance (e.g., sustainment training/continuing education) shall be at no cost to the employee. Certified CSWF personnel performing cybersecurity functions or roles, whose certifications lapse shall have their access to Do D information systems either downgraded to a level appropriate to their certification status, or will be denied access to Do D information systems.

Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.

A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.

This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
