Position: Lead Tech- Pharmacy IV
Participates with pharmacists, nursing, and medical staff to provide safe, accurate and timely medication administration.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
The lead techs responsibilities will include but are not limited to; assisting the operations manager in ensuring the day-to-day duties of technicians are performed, inventory management, organization, and ordering of supplies, IVs, and other items. The lead tech will know how to use all drug procuring software and assist the pharmacy buyer when needed. Maintaining Pyxis (or current dispensing technology) PAR levels, complete controlled substance audits and assist in resolution of medication discrepancies, and occasional KPI reporting will be required in this role. The lead tech will collaborate with IV pharmacist to complete yearly sterile room competencies of IV certified staff. The lead tech will have oversite of the pharmacy technician (HS and college level) students on rotation in the facility. Another responsibility is supporting the free-standing emergency room centers (FEDs). The lead tech, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, will also assist in the various activities of the pharmacy department. This can include preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory and maintenance of records. Pharmacy Technicians function in accordance with standard written procedures, guidelines and state and federal regulations. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.

- Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy prior to start of employment.
- 5 years’ experience in hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
- Demonstrates high level of organizational skills.
- Demonstrates independent functioning.
- High school graduate or equivalency.
- IV Certification preferred.
- Associates degree preferred.

6. Bending and lifting (25 lbs.), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling.
7. Ability to work independently and handle stress appropriately. Ability to work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions and respond quickly to emergency requests.
