Material Coordinator

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Puyenpa team supporting our contract at a United States Navy facility in Norco, CA.. The main responsibilities of the role include:
- The Material Coordinator is responsible to build relationships with employees and customers. The coordinator is primarily responsible for space management administrative tasks and quality verification of material handler tasks. They must be an excellent team player and be able to work well independently. They must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and utilize those skills up and down the chain of command.
- Prepare work orders and project requests for furniture reconfiguration and/or moves, ad hoc events and projects using knowledge of major furniture lines and technical installation skills. Assist and oversee installers work to provide guidance and mentoring throughout the process.
- Maintain Archibus move information and track furniture as-built condition for final plan updates by Drafter. Prepare Excel report on number of seats and seating details. Help develop standards and best practices.
- Identify and procure miscellaneous items to assist team in their work, acquire breakroom equipment, accessories, boxes, dollies, and furniture parts necessary to complete reconfigurations.
- Oversee and help as necessary in the move and/or installation of furniture and wall mounted items such as artwork, whiteboards, video monitors, etc.
- Report on Furniture Projects for Infrastructure Division as well as to customers.
Nature of Work
The coordinator receives space change requests, gathers requirements, and manages information from inception through closeout. Prepares furniture material handlers daily schedule for project execution of adds, moves, and changes. Mentors, and monitors their progress. Oversees installation to ensure projects are done per plans and on time. Assists POC with vendor deliveries and installations. Reviews work and provides punch-list correction documentation to POC. Finalizes closeout documents with Drafter to capture as-built conditions. Instrumental in obtaining all approvals from IT department, Ops Managers, other stakeholders and governing groups, including Safety and Federal Fire. Coordinates with IT division for required data and VOIP and electrician for minor electrical de-install/reinstall. Ability to coordinate smaller purchases, understand the purchase process and its part in the furniture project process from inception through installation, warranty, and closeout.
Other responsibilities include coordination of Safety walks and shares information with team for continued improvement. Oversees existing furniture inventory and strategizes reuse and storage. Works closely with the Ops teams to prioritize moves and installations. Creates ad hoc reports for the Command as needed. Maintains status of inventory and master Archibus files.

Assignments regularly require the use of MS suite software, field dimensioning tools, driving carts & trucks, and using computer software. Able to read blueprints and drawings; frequently works from installation plans and sometimes minimal sketches with verbal information and suggestions from co-workers, stakeholders, and clients to determine the most appropriate action and best solutions for successful projects. Auto CAD skills are a plus. Contributes to a respectful, fast paced, work environment and has multi-tasking abilities. Notifies supervisor of conflicting details in projects.
This coordinator acts as the first point of contact for furniture project requests, is the ‘go to’ person for department contacts, is organized and works well with peers. Familiar with internet sites, precedents, manufacturers' catalogs, warranties, and technical guides. This coordinator independently resolves most of the problems encountered, shares information and mentors with continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
- U.S Citizen.
- High school diploma or GED.
- A SECRET level Security Clearance or the capability to receive one is required.
- 4-year degree (preferred in commercial design w/ architectural and code knowledge).
- Proficiency using Auto CAD, Archibus, REVIT, Google Earth, Sketch Up, Microsoft Suite, Adobe PRO DC, Bluebeam.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift and/or carry moderate weight (50lbs)
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, reach, repetitive hand motions
- May experience prolonged and irregular work hours, and work with frequent interruptions indoors and outdoors.
