TITLE: METCO Liaison- Student Success


REPORTS TO: METCO Director and Visionary


POSITION OVERVIEW:


Working with Boston resident SPS students in a one on one and or small group setting, the METCO Student Success Liaison will be responsible for assisting with academic, behavioral, and social support, while working under the direction of the METCO Director. This position would play a crucial part in supporting the overall well-being of Boston resident students through program facilitation, as well as being an advocate for various SPS student services. The successful candidate will develop strong and collaborative relationships with student, parents, faculty, staff, and other METCO advocates.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Providing individual/group advising and mentoring to address academic, social, and emotional challenges, as well as supporting students with their goals and growth opportunities.
• Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and families to develop and implement academic strategies for student success.
• Implement personalized intervention plans to support students academically and socially.
• Assist with the facilitation of workshops and presentations on topics such as study skills, conflict resolution, and diversity awareness
• Advocating for students' needs within the school community and connecting them with appropriate resources and support services
• Collaborate with community organizations and agencies to enhance support services for Boston resident students and their families.
• Collaborate with the classroom teachers to improve the academic standing of Boston resident students.
• Facilitate academic study hall homework sessions for students needing additional support.
• Attend all METCO team meetings
• Assume other duties as assigned by the METCO Director

Note: During three 8 week sessions, the METCO Student Support Liaison will also support students grades 3-8 on Wednesdays for their after school enrichment. The Student Success Liaison will monitor the school bus for the students' trip home following their after school programming.


QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred and or equivalent work experience
• 2-5 years of experience working with children
• Experience in addressing and advocating for students' needs
• Experience with implementing and/or facilitating student programming, preferred
• Experience working with students in a school setting, preferred
• Experience working in a METCO program, preferred
• Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.

TERMS: Non-Union, Work year; 180 school days, plus an additional 10 days (to be determined by immediate supervisor)


WORK DAY: School day hours, with the exception of Wednesdays: 12:00PM-8:00PM
