The Dean of Students Office is hiring an Assistant Director of Student Conduct & Ethical Development whose primary role is to address cases of student misconduct and serve as UAA's expert on academic integrity.
This position oversees UAA's compliance with the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act and supervises the Alcohol, Drug, and Wellness Educator position. This position acts on behalf of the Assistant Dean of Students in their absence. The Assistant Director of Student Conduct & Ethical Development is a member of the Dean of Students Office team. The Dean of Students Office oversees student care; student conduct; Clery Act compliance; Drug Free Schools and Communities Act compliance; alcohol, drug, and wellness education; and student advocacy for the UAA system. The Dean of Students Office is a close knit team of student-centered professionals.
To thrive in this role, candidates should bring a robust understanding of student conduct standards and a comprehensive knowledge of federal laws such as FERPA, Title IX, the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act, and the Clery Act. Your experience in student learning and development will be essential in fostering a supportive educational environment. The ability to effectively conduct investigations, analyze complex situations, and interview various stakeholders is crucial. You should excel in building collaborative relationships across UAA’s diverse community, demonstrating cultural competency and a commitment to equity and inclusion. Strong organizational and writing skills are necessary for managing records and communication with clarity and professionalism. Proficiency in office technology, particularly in MS Office Suite and database management, will enhance your ability to perform independently and meet deadlines effectively. Five years in higher education, specifically addressing student misconduct preferred. Experience with Maxient is also preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field and four years of progressively responsible relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferably, a candidate will have a master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, educational leadership, college student personnel, or a related field. Previous experience complying with the requirements of the Clery Act, Title IX, and/or Drug Free Schools and Communities Act is highly preferred. Prior experience serving on a behavior intervention team is preferred. Prior experience with substance abuse education is preferred.
Position Details:
This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
