Pacific Coast Animal Hospital in Redondo Beach, CA is looking for a dynamic and talented individual inspired to contribute confidently to the animal health industry. The successful candidate may be expected to support and perform technical and administrative responsibilities essential to the successful growth of Pacific Coast Animal Hospital. Over time, technical responsibilities will reduce and the position will become one of a full-time practice manager. Education & Professional Experience Required:

High School Diploma
Associates or bachelors degree
3+ years of customer service
5+ years of clinical veterinary experience
2+ years of management experience
RVT (preferred)

Proficiency with technology, i OS and Ezy Vet specifically

Clinical Role & Responsibilities:

Client communication and relationship development
Patient care, including proficiency with safe and reliable restraint
Basic medical mathematics
Proficiency with routine technical procedures including but not limited to venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and proficiency with the induction, maintenance and monitoring of patients under sedation and general anesthesia
Supporting activities related to appointments including but not limited to obtaining histories, TPRs / weights, assisting with medical records, and completing standard appointment procedures (i.e. vaccines, nail trims, ear cleanings, etc.)
Supporting activities related to hospital admissions including but not limited to verifying consent forms, patient information, medications, fasting status, and initiating activities related appointment purpose (i.e. blood glucose curves)
Supporting activities related to the administration and management of controlled substances, ensuring DEA compliance
Supporting activities related to therapeutic procedures (setting up, assisting, and cleaning up once complete), completing diagnostics (including laboratory and radiology imaging studies), and supporting surgical and dental procedures (see below) including patient recovery
Proficiency with routine surgical procedures including but not limited to spays, neuters, mass removals, and dental prophylaxis
Proficiency with cleaning and sterilizing equipment
Support practices related to inventory management
Participate in activities to contribute to and maintain a clean hospital environment
Support in the development and training of other technicians and veterinary assistants with various procedures and techniques
Support annual compliance training programs, including radiation safety

Management Role & Responsibilities:

Support activities related to recruiting employees (successfully advertising, interviewing, hiring and onboarding)
Develop and manage clinical schedule with established protocols and within budgetary guidelines
Provide timely feedback (formal and informal) to all employees driving performance, as well as personal and clinical goals
Review time cards to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with schedule expectations
Oversee, monitor and complete daily, monthly, and quarterly financial reports
Participate in annual budget planning
Oversee all accounts receivable (cash drawer, petty cash, delivery of deposits) and ensure payment for services rendered is received
Submit deposit reports, purchase receipts, invoices and statements to the accounting department
Implement and train a customer experience program from arrival through departure to ensure a five-star experience
Collaborate with the partner veterinarian to monitor and respond to any client concerns
Monitor public forums and respond to client reviews accordingly
Oversee all inventory activities to ensure sufficient supply while minimizing overstock of product(s) and maintaining budgetary guidelines
Accurately maintain electronic inventory tracking and financial reports
Ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines surrounding controlled substances, and routinely monitor internal controls to ensure safe handling
Oversee implementation and daily operations of facilities, equipment and software applications, working with the partner veterinarian to resolve any malfunctions as quickly as possible
In collaboration with the partner veterinarian, develop and deliver monthly team meetings to include (but not limited to) team and relationship building activities, updates in clinical medicine, operational excellence, compliance or regulatory standards and training / professional development
Oversee team member professional development and performance standards.
Develop, implement and manage annual performance review process
Develop, implement and manage team member training programs

Schedule:
This is a full-time, salaried (exempt) position and the general schedule will be discussed between the candidate and partner veterinarian. Additionally, while the schedule is expected to be consistent, changes may be necessary to meet the needs of a growing hospital. The following holidays are observed: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Experience:

Veterinary technician: 5 years (Preferred)
Management: 2 years (Preferred)
