The Tax Analyst is a key member of General Accounting and Financial Reporting team here at Boston University. This position has the potential to work a hybrid schedule under the University's remote work guidelines.
Major duties of this position include:
- Support the preparation of Federal, state, and international tax filings through compiling and analyzing reports from our SAP accounting system.
- Assist in the preparation of Form 990 and 990-T which involves compilation and analysis of University data as well as information gathering from various departments.
- Help prepare work papers to support tax filings such as Excise Tax, Sales & Meals Tax and others.
- Assist in researching various Federal, state, and international tax issues.
- Support coordinating tax advisory and tax preparation services from outside parties as necessary.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with key departments such as the Investment Office and the Office of Global Programs
Pay Range: Minimum $50,400, Midpoint $68,100, Maximum $85,700. Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
Required Skills
Required Skills:
- Bachelors degree in accounting or related field
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably public accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Advanced skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, including complex formulas to acquire, organize, and analyze data.
- Ability to analyze data to determine relevant conclusions and suggest appropriate actions to management.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and ad-hoc requests to meet or exceed deadlines.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Detail oriented, demonstrating accuracy and quality of work output.
- Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively in team environment.
- Self-motivated, proactive, intellectually curious
Preferred Skills:
- CPA
- Experience with ERP and/or SAP
- Experience in non-profit industry or higher education
