Salary: $21 per 60 minute group/$33 per 90-minute group

Summary: At Hey Peers, we’re pioneering the very best in online peer support. None of this happens without our outstanding care of peer supporters. We believe in the effectiveness and power of peer support in a person’s recovery journey. To strengthen this core part of Hey Peers, we’re delighted to welcome applications for a Peer Supporter. In this role, partner with other members of the Peer Supporter care at Hey Peers to facilitate and manage the very best in online peer support groups, across topics and demographics like (but not limited to) depression recovery, anxiety, substance use, family and friends, veterans of the armed forces, grief, and young adults. You will be the facilitator and guide for our meetings. You will be a peer to our participants in the United States and all over the world.
Specific Responsibilities:

• Managing the meeting space for (an) online peer support group(s)
• Opening the meeting space
• Welcoming participants into the meeting space
• Sharing appropriate slides at the beginning of the meeting
• If co-hosting
• Assisting co-host with entrance into the meeting space
• Discussing with fellow co-hosts prior to the start of the meeting who will do what (sharing slides, welcome, setting up breakout rooms, etc.)
• Facilitating the interaction of the participants during the meeting
• Ensure all participants follow group guidelines
• Manage your own imposition of feedback into the group
• Allow all participants the opportunity to share their experiences
• Manage disruptive users and behavior in meetings and communicate emergencies/ immediate concerns to the appropriate staff members in a timely manner
• Providing self-help education
• Where appropriate, and according to group guidelines, share resilience tips and feedback with participants
• Soliciting feedback
• When appropriate, reminding participants to complete feedback surveys on the effectiveness of and support received from the meeting
• Promote Hey Peers services within your personal and professional networks
• Making suggestions about how to improve Hey Peers service

Work Requirements:

• Able to communicate effectively with internal and external parties
• Able to perform work remotely—including a quiet environment with a secure & stable internet connection
• Empathetic and understanding of complex customer relational needs
• Must facilitate groups in a quiet, secluded and private space, with access to high speed internet
• Must have access to PC/Apple laptop, as well as high quality headset and microphone

Knowledge and Experience:

• Outstanding communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills working with diverse populations
• Proficient use of PC/Apple computers
• Minimum 1 year experience with peer support, behavioral, or mental health, preferred 2-5 years experience
• Preferred training in peer support modalities such as Intentional Peer Support (IPS), Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP), or crisis mediation
• NCPS certification desirable but not required

Pay: $21.00 - $22.00 per hour
