The Opportunity
Wesfarmers through its 50 per cent owned Covalent Lithium joint venture with Socíedad Quimica y Minera (SQM), is progressing with the development of the Covalent lithium project. Once complete, the operation will include a lithium hydroxide refinery at Kwinana, Western Australia, alongside the recently commissioned mine and concentrator, which is currently producing spodumene concentrate at Mt Holland. The Covalent Lithium integrated operation will produce 50,000 tonnes (25,000 tonnes Wes CEF
In addition, the Minerals business is pursing other growth opportunities with an active portfolio of exploration assets.
We are seeking an experienced Business Accounting Lead to join our Minerals team, reporting to the divisions Finance Manager. You will play a crucial role in providing timely, accurate, and insightful financial and non-financial information that positively influences decision-making within the business unit. The role also ensures appropriate control measures are in place to mitigate financial and operational risk, maintaining compliance with both Wesfarmers and Wes CEF policies, accounting standards and various regulatory and statutory requirements.
Some key responsibilities include:

• Preparing Wes CEF Minerals consolidated monthly financial statements to drive insights and enables informed decision making.
• Ensuring the quality, integrity, and efficiency of all Wes CEF Minerals reporting outputs for both internal and external users of financial and non-financial information.
• Providing technical accounting expertise and guidance on mining and chemical processing specific transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and divisional policies.
• Proactively building strong relationships with key stakeholders across Wesfarmers, Wes CEF and Covalent Lithium.
• Applying an understanding of the industry context and how it applies to the business, which includes an external lens on industry and market participants.
• Completing various statutory requirements and managing the reporting of our exploration activities.
• Preparing Wes CEF Minerals monthly forecasts, budgets, and five-year plans, supported by insightful commentary that links financial performance to key business drivers and strategies.
• Remaining inquisitive and challenging the business on forecasting, budgeting, and planning assumptions.
• Proactively identify, develop, lead, deliver and implement Wes CEF Minerals specific finance initiatives and projects to achieve the Finance functions vision “to bravely and proactively influence the success of our business.”

About You

• Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, CPA Australia, or equivalent qualifications.
• Must have well versed technical accounting skillset developed within an ASX listed mining/resources and/or chemical processing company.
• Personal attributes include a continuous improvement and innovation mindset, resilience and tenacity, attention to detail, as well as an ability and confidence to navigate change, and master new skills and challenges
• Being commercial, understanding the financial drivers/commercial levers for the business and capable of dealing with ambiguity and thinks through future scenarios.
• Delivering results analytical, fact-based logic and strong problem-solving skills, decisive, action orientated and outcome focused, with an ability to use story telling to connect, influence and engage the audience.
• Critical experiences include managing complexity, effective business partnering and well developed accounting and assurance experiences.
• SAP experience is highly desired.
