This role is advertised between the PO2 and PO3 pay scales. The level of remuneration will be dependent on the applicant's level of knowledge and experience as determined in the recruitment and selection process. The Analytical Laboratory at Simtars is a laboratory specialising in the analysis of occupational hygiene samples using a broad range of analytical techniques, for internal and external customers. Internally, Simtars supports the Occupational Hygiene team and RSHQ Inspectorates with their analysis requests, but the team also gets to be involved in assisting Simtars Research team with analytical requests on research projects.
The position requires a chemist with hands-on analytical experience using HPLC. Chemists with experience using other chromatographic techniques such as GC, GCMS and IC are also encouraged to apply.

We are seeking a chemist who is:

• Comfortable working in an ISO 17025 NATA approved laboratory,
• Safety Focused,
• Experienced at maintaining and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation,
• Exposure to and comfortable using different analytical software programs
• Strong communication Skills - written and oral.
• Effective time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
• A willingness to learn and adapt to new methodologies and technologies.
• A collaborative mindset, ready to work within a team and assist colleagues as needed.
