The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for someone deeply committed to quality Outside School Hours Care and Early Years for children, families, school communities, and educators and understands the sector's fast pace.
The Role
As the Area Manager, you will have strong business acumen, be able to monitor, and maintain daily rostering and recruitment, and ensure legislation and regulations are adhered to within each service you manage and support After The Bell Aus business structure. Most importantly you will mentor the program Coordinators and their team to support and provide high quality of care for the children, families, and the School community.
The role is based in Queensland, working partly from home, and requires a high level of travel via car and air travel around QLD and VIC to manage up to 15 OSHC programs, with a mixture of Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Being present before and during Assessment and Rating with the Department.
  • Provided customer service to families on matters that arose ad hoc.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to Coordinators and staff to promote a high level of understanding of the School-Aged Learning Framework and to deliver engaging, inclusive, creative, and environmentally friendly programs for children.
  • Ensure programs are well set up and maintained. As well as support any program set-up and pack-up requirements.
  • Manage and oversee staff training, rostering, and recruitment for your allocated programs, as you progress in your role.
  • Requires weekly driving to visit allocated programs in the state you reside in and termly to other states for up to 2 weeks.
  • Manage internal and external reporting requirements efficiently daily.
  • Ensure each program holds an assessment and rating level of ‘meeting’.
Experience
  • Must have experience as an Area Manager, managing multiple childcare services at one time with a minimum of one year experience.
  • Understand that traveling to programs is required to support a successful OSHC under your management.
  • A high level of knowledge of the School-Aged Learning Frameworks and Education and Care Act and Regulations.
  • The ability to work independently and work remotely from home get the job done daily and report to managers.
  • Experience in the Assessment and Rating process and timeframes.
  • The ability to conduct a high level of travel and organise own accommodation and flights within budget.
  • The ability to develop positive working relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • A high level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent leadership, people, and time management skills.
  • A high level of understanding of operational best practices for the business, being supported by senior management, but still allowing you to be your own boss.
  • Ability to influence a large geographically dispersed team.
  • A work ethic that embraces high integrity, loyalty, trust, and reliability.
Our successful candidate will hold the minimum-
  • Bachelor of Early Childhood or Diploma of Children Services or equivalent.
  • Level 2 First Aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma certification level 0012
  • Blue Card (P) and Working With Children (E) or willing to obtain
  • Child Protection Training or willing to obtain
  • Right to work and live in Australia
  • Strong knowledge of computer skills and ability to learn and embrace software databases i.e.- Kidsoft and Deputy rostering
