About the role
The Clinical Trials has particular responsibilities for the implementation of the CALHN Memory Trials' clinical research protocols and drug trials and is accountable for own practice standards.
In the course of fulfilling the role of Clinical Trials Coordinator, the role provides specific support to the Clinical Trials Manager role in the leadership of nurses/midwives in the ward/unit/service. Work at this level is undertaken by employees with at least 3 years post registration experience.
The Clinical Trials Coordinator is accountable to the CALHN Memory Trials Head of Unit and is responsible for the coordination of Memory trials at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and The Royal Adelaide Hospital, ensuring each trial is conducted in accordance with the Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and which complies with National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Ethical Statement of Ethical Conduct in Human Research and to monitor patient safety, provide support and education to patients enrolled in clinical trials.
Duties include the coordination of trial subject recruitment, appointments and clinical follow-up, the collection of data, the collection of specimens, the collation of test results, supervision of research nursing staff and the immediate reporting of adverse events. Co-ordination and management of trial subjects/patients involves appointments, clinical trial preparation and implementation under the supervision of the Clinical Trials Manager.
Qualifications

• Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.

Essential Requirements:

• Current National Police Clearance (NPC)
• Immunisation screening as indicated in the role description. SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
