Position: Dry Produce Retail Buyer
Location: Zetland, NSW 2017
Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,000
We are currently seeking a Dry Produce Retail Buyer to enhance our product selection and ensure our offerings meet the tastes, preferences of our diverse customer base and our business standards.
The Dry Produce Retail Buyer will be responsible for the selection, purchase, and management of products. Your role will entail all aspects of the purchasing and resale process from managing sales records, updating stock lists, setting sale price, negotiating supplier orders and quality control and monitoring the dry produce market for seasonal trends and changes in market conditions.
Your main responsibilities will be but not limited to:
· Research, evaluate, and select products for retail that align with our brand and customer preferences. Source high-quality, cost-effective products that meet customer demand.

• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and secure advantageous terms to optimise product quality and pricing.
• Monitor and maintain optimal stock levels to ensure product availability and minimise waste, using data-driven forecasting methods.
• Analyse consumer buying patterns, sales data, and market trends to guide product selection and adjustments. Regularly review product performance to improve selection.
• Work closely with management to establish competitive pricing strategies, while coordinating promotions to drive sales and meet revenue targets.

Skills and Experience Needed:
· AQF Certificate III or at least 3 years of relevant work experience in the similar role
· Experience as a Retail Buyer or in a similar procurement or merchandising role, preferably within the food sector.
· Experienced in quality control of produce and the ability to reject produce that does not meet the standard

• Strong negotiation skills with a proven ability to establish and maintain supplier relationships.
• Analytical skills with proficiency in interpreting sales data and understanding market trends.
• Highly analytical and confident in stock control and inventory management as well as have high commercial acumen around product pricing, consumer insights and customer behaviours.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments to meet company goals.
• Strong work ethic and a positive team attitude required.
