Education Focused Lecturer in Music and Sound Design

About the Faculty & School
Music and Sound Design in the School of Communication is a successful course within the Faculty in terms of its scale, industry relevance and student outcomes. The industry sector is growing rapidly, looking to the higher education sector to equip graduates to be job ready with solid skills and focus creative talent.
About the role
The appointee will be required to teach and coordinate a selection of undergraduate subjects in Music and Sound Design. The appointee will be expected to engage in curriculum development and design new subjects or update existing curriculum as appropriate including potential future postgraduate qualifications in this space.
The position will be based at the centrally located UTS Campus in Ultimo and will report directly to Professor James Goodman
About You
The ideal candidate to join the team will be a dynamic and dedicated professional who brings a rich understanding of teaching, engagement and curriculum development. You will also bring with you substantial experience in teaching Screen Music and Sound Design subjects at a tertiary level.

Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $121,566 to $143,880 pa (Level B) pro-rata
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
UTS staff also benefit from a wide range of Employee Benefits including flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave, and salary packaging opportunities.
This position is part-time (0.6FTE, 3 days per week) and the appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 12 months.

Successful applications should also have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or industry-based professional practice equivalence
- Up to date knowledge and understanding of contemporary scholarship, professional best practice, and current issues in the field of Music and Sound Design.
- An understanding of the utilisation and affordances of digital media platforms in the music and sound design fields
- Experience in subject coordination and use of online learning management systems such as Canvas
- Demonstrated ability in successful subject coordination and management of teams and groups in a multi -disciplinary academic setting
- Demonstrated excellence in innovative approaches in teaching and learning, including blended delivery, in tertiary settings and practice orientated approaches aligned with the UTS Model of Learning
