Enrolled Nurse and Registered Nurse – Targeted

About the EN Role:
As an Enrolled Nurse your day-to-day duties will focus on delivering individualised and exceptional patient care to maximise health outcomes under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You will manage a patient load of adult surgical patients both pre and post-operatively, accepting patients from the Emergency Department, Operating Theatre and Clinics.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will adapt to a high turnover of patients while performing clinical tasks such as monitoring vital signs, administering medications, providing wound care, and assisting with daily living activities. You’ll also maintain accurate patient records and contribute to care plans, fostering a supportive and friendly environment that promotes healing and well-being.
Enrolled Nurse (Medication Endorsed where applicable) with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA.
About the RN Role:
As a Registered Nurse your day-to-day duties will involve providing safe, compassionate, person-centred care within the unit, collaborating with patients, families, caregivers, and a multidisciplinary team to achieve identified goals and outcomes. You will manage a patient load of adult surgical patients both pre and post-operatively, accepting patients from the Emergency Department, operating theatre, and outpatient clinics.
In addition to delivering direct care, you may take on leadership roles during shifts, overseeing team activities. Working in a dynamic and friendly environment, you will adapt to a high turnover of patients while conducting assessments, implementing care plans, administering medications, and monitoring progress, all to enhance patient recovery and well-being.
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.

Where you’ll be working:
- The JHH Same Day Inpatient Beds located in the Interventional Suite of the RNC Building, operate as a flexible 16-bed surgical unit that adapts to meet the fluctuating demands of the hospital. This dynamic unit plays a vital role in supporting Surgical Services by expanding bed capacity when needed. Successful candidates will collaborate closely with Nursing, Medical, and Allied Health teams, contributing to the delivery of exceptional patient care. With a focus on shorter hospital stays, the unit manages a diverse range of surgical cases, including Urology, Orthopaedic, Dental, ENT, and General Surgery, ensuring comprehensive care across specialties.
- John Hunter Hospital is located within the Hunter New England Local Health District and is nestled between multiple beautiful beaches and the magnificent Hunter Valley vineyards which are just an hour’s drive away. The hospital has direct access to public transport and is close to numerous public schools and several major shopping centres.

About you:
- You will be a problem solver with exceptional decision-making skills.
- You will have the skills to identify early signs of deterioration and promptly escalate patient care in accordance with protocol.
- You will be a team-oriented professional dedicated to collaborating effectively to meet and exceed patient goals.
- You will be available to work a 7-day rotating roster, across all shifts, including night shifts and all days of the week.
Additional information:
- An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full or part time and temporary full or part time vacancies.
- Interviews are tentatively scheduled for the week commencing Monday 4th November 2024.
- To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport. Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable local candidate is identified for the position; in this instance, you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
