EOI: Skitube Trades Assistant (Fixed-Term)

This role is based at Perisher, the largest ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere, located in the beautiful Snowy Mountains region of South-Eastern NSW and just a two-hour drive from Canberra and the Far South Coast. Perisher is part of Vail Resorts who own and operate ski areas including iconic resorts such as Perisher, Falls Creek and Hotham in Australia as well as Park City, Beaver Creek, Whistler Blackcomb and Vail in North America.

The Skitube Alpine Railway is a vital part of our operations and is a rack/cog railway of Swiss design providing all-weather access to the resort, travelling from Bullocks Flat to Perisher Valley and Blue Cow Mountain. It has one of the longest underground train tunnels in Australia and travels as deep as 550m underground.
As a Trades Assistant, you will be part of a dedicated team with a focus on preventive breakdowns of the Skitube. You will help ensure the Skitube is operating safely and efficiently by carrying out relevant inspections and performing maintenance as required. Working alongside our qualified team of fitters and electricians, you will gain extensive knowledge on the Skitube and its operations.
To be successful in this role we are looking for candidates with a diverse range of skills who can and is willing to work across a variety of tasks.
Required Experience and Attributes

Experience working in construction or within a similar maintenance type role
Current driver’s licence
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop good working relationships with all levels of staff
Capacity to think logically and be able to rationally analyse and solve problems
Ability to work under pressure with limited supervision
