Lady Elliot Island is a coral cay located at the southern tip of the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef. Situated within a highly protected ’Green Zone’ the island is a sanctuary for over 1,200 species of marine life and is known for its abundance of manta rays, turtles, amazing array of spectacular marine life and unspoiled coral reef. Located on this coral cay is Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort, an award winning eco tourism business.
We are seeking a Grounds Attendant to join our award winning team on Lady Elliot Island. Our people are our whole business and therefore we are striving to build an inclusive culture that empowers every individual to reach their potential across the business.
The island based permanent position is offering a 9 days on and 5 days off roster. You will be required to live on island for the 9 days straight and whilst we are here to work you will still have some down time to enjoy the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef.
Responsibilities for the role include:
· Mowing
· Wood chipping and mulching
· Excavation work
· Fixing landscaping, grounds and roadworks
· Maintain Refuse Centre in a neat and tidy state at all times
· Complete all rostered monthly maintenance
· Maintain the resorts gardens, grounds and pathways
· Refuel vehicles as per refueling procedures
· Checking machinery and equipment vitals
· Chain sawing and tree pruning
· Various ad hoc duties as required
The position is a live on island role during the 9 days you are there with meals and accommodation provided at a reduced rate in a shared accommodation facility. All staff are recruited to fly in and out via Hervey Bay Airport.
