Innovation Ecosystem Community Manager

Salary: UOM 8 - $119,742 - $129,607 p.a. plus 17% super (pro rata for part time)

The Innovation Ecosystem Community Manager will oversee the creation, management, and growth of a dynamic community of alumni and industry experts to support the University of Melbourne’s entrepreneurship and commercialisation goals. Reporting to the UMC Head of Engagement and Community, and working closely with Research, Innovation & Commerialisation (RIC) and Advancement, the role involves developing and maintaining a database of community members, ensuring effective onboarding and engagement, and delivering a consistent and integrated customer experience for all community members.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Design and maintain a CRM system for alumni and industry experts supporting the University’s entrepreneurship and commercialisation mission, ensuring up-to-date contact details and data privacy.
- Collaborate with RIC and Advancement leaders to establish processes for capturing and managing community member information and engagement protocols.
- Develop and implement a consistent onboarding system and organise curated events to engage and recognise community members.
- Respond to specific requests for community members with expertise for mentorship, support roles, or commercialisation pathways, and identify new candidates through Linked In and other resources.
You will have exceptional relationship management skills, adept at engaging with senior stakeholders and discerning both verbal and non-verbal cues. Well-organised and an excellent communicator, you will foster strong community connections. Your leadership and facilitation skills, combined with a creative approach to problem-solving, will drive success in entrepreneurship and research commercialisation. You will effectively manage tasks and deadlines, prioritising diversity and inclusion while respecting different perspectives.
You will also have:
- Tertiary education in a relevant field is desirable.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns, share insights, and improve systems and processes.
- Experience in designing and implementing new community engagement platforms, including CRM databases and programmes.
- Familiarity with managing complex, ambiguous projects, and prior experience with Linked In and alumni communities.
This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
