Salary: Level B – $119,231 – 141,581 p.a. plus 17% super plus a clinical loading (if applicable) of $13,494 pro rata

The Lecturer in Oral Anatomy and Histology will play a key role in teaching and research within the Melbourne Dental School, contributing to both undergraduate and postgraduate education. This position involves preparing and delivering high-quality teaching, leading curriculum development, and participating in scholarly and research activities. The successful candidate will also contribute to the development of national and international collaborations, providing leadership and fostering partnerships across academia and industry.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Demonstrate a proactive reflective teaching practice through seeking guidance from senior teaching staff and student feedback.
- Effective and timely completion of subject coordination duties and convenorship of Structure and Function in Dentistry (DENT90114) within the Melbourne Dental School.
- Administrative tasks associated with the subjects taught, including consultation with students, marking and assessment.
- Contribute to a portfolio of funding to support a research program that includes preparing grant applications, including success in obtaining external research grant income to support that research, to both internal and external funding agencies.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching and the ability to develop innovative educational materials, coupled with strong collaborative and multidisciplinary research skills. They will be adept at supervising graduate students, working both independently and as part of a team, and building effective relationships within a diverse academic environment.
You will also have:
- A completed Ph D in a relevant field or related discipline
- Experience in education, demonstrated ability for excellence in teaching including the capacity to develop teaching materials.
- Ability to explore new educational methods to improve teaching and learning and student learning capabilities.
- Ability to supervise research higher degree students and graduate research students through to thesis completion
This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.

The Melbourne Dental School has a strong tradition in dental research and an established international reputation in several research areas. Research in the School is an integral component of staff and student activities underpinning both the undergraduate and graduate curricula. The major research activities of the school are conducted via three divisions and four major research groups, which range translational biomedical science to clinical studies, pedagogical research.
