Selection Criteria
SC1 Demonstrated high level experience with library management systems, in particular Accessit Library and Spydus Management Systems.
SC2 Demonstrated experience with digital facilities (Clickview, e Book platforms) and managing print and online resources.
SC3 Demonstrated high level organizational and planning skills, including experience in rosters and managing staff.
SC4 Demonstrated working collaboratively, independently and with initiative, whilst being flexible, creative and innovative.
SC5 Demonstrated outstanding communication and interpersonal skills including effectively communicating with students, teachers and the general public.
Role
The Library Technician reports to the Co-Ordinator of Library and is responsible for managing all technical services in the library to support school library teaching and learning programs, and to provide public library service to users of the GRLC Vines Road Library.
Responsibilities
With the Co-ordinator of the Library create a warm, welcoming, learner-centred library environment where
  • students feel safe and supported, especially during break times and before and after school
  • students develop the habits of browsing and selecting and undertaking sustained silent immersion in reading
  • senior students understand and develop the habits of focused and sustained study during class time
  • students feel confident to consult library staff for help with research and reading.

Manage and carry out all school library technical operations and services involving:
  • Acquisitions and processing
  • Library space, furniture and equipment maintenance and tidiness
  • Collection management and tidiness
  • Library management systems (2)
  • Circulation
  • Bookings and rosters
Manage and carry out all GRLC operations and services including:
  • Client services
  • Loans
  • Collection management, tidiness

Location Profile
Western Heights College is a government co-educational single campus secondary college located in the heart of the Hamlyn Heights, Herne Hill and the Geelong West region just a short drive from the Geelong city centre, the Geelong Ring Road and nearby rural towns.
