Mining Engineer - Open Pit

The Mount Monger Operation (MMO) is an expansive tenement package located 50km south-east of Kalgoorlie. The French Kiss Open Pit project is due for re-commencement in the first quarter of FY25, with several additional potential Open Pits on the MMO lease, including the Rumbles and Flora Dora prospects. Based initially at the French Kiss project, you will have the opportunity to move to one of our many other projects after completion, either within the Mount Monger operation, or at one of multiple other operating centres.
THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Open Pits Mine Manager and working back to back with a Senior Mining Engineer, you will be responsible for Drill & Blast designs and short term planning & scheduling at French Kiss Open pit. Working closely with the Drilling and Mining Contractors, you will communicate effectively to ensure production objectives are understood, and safety standards and continuity is maintained.
Other responsibilities include:

Produce and Review drill and blast plans in a timely manner
Review production data to improve drill and blast plans to minimise cost and maximise fragmentation
Develop, maintain and update the short- and medium-term plans and schedules
Provide support to ensure compliance with legislative and statutory requirements, as well as company environmental and safety standards
Work closely with the Contractor to implement the mine plan
Conduct regular open pit workplace inspections
Contribute to the development and implementation of weekly, monthly and quarterly mine plans
Track and update production data
Complete mine projects as required
Prepare weekly and monthly production reports
Undertake regular inspections and auditing of contractor activities
Generate forecasts of activities on a monthly basis in EPS

ABOUT YOU:
You are a motivated and driven Mining Engineering professional who thrives in a dynamic environment with plenty of upside. You enjoy the autonomy of working in a small team, and proactively seek out opportunities for improvement. You work collaboratively with a wide range of people and have exceptional leadership and communication skills at all levels.
You will need to demonstrate you have:

Recognised tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
Demonstrated experience in open pit hard rock mining, preferably Gold
Experience in start-up of new Open Pit operations, and breadth of experience across multiple Open Pits would be an advantage
Experience using mining software, preferably Datamine, Surpac and EPS
Maintain Statutory compliance with The Work Health and Safety Act 2020 ('WHS Act')
C Class driver’s licence and First Aid Certificate
