About The Role:
This fulltime position comprises 40 hours per week inclusive of outreach services and will be worked at the direction of the Director of the Department. This will include 32 hours per week of direct clinical care. The role will contribute to Departmental, Divisional and wider allied organisational activities of RCH.

This consultant Paediatric Surgeon position provides a full range of paediatric surgery and partakes in the on-call roster at the direction of the Director of Paediatric Surgery. There may be a requirement for this role to undertake outreach services at other locations across the state of Victoria in line with the Department's surgical partnerships that aim to provide integrated paediatric surgical care across the state.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide specialist paediatric surgical clinical services; especially in subspeciality colorectal surgery that enhances RCH's international and national reputation as a centre of excellence in Paediatric Surgery. The role will also provide opportunity to foster, develop and drive clinical research activity within the Department of Paediatric Surgery by collaboration within RCH, with our Campus partners and with other leading international academic children's hospitals. Supervision of trainees, participation in the Department's educational program and engagement in the quality improvement activities and meetings of the Department will be expected.

Your skills and experience:
  • Registered as a specialist medical practitioner with AHPRA
  • FRACS (Paediatric Surgery) or equivalent
  • At least 5 years' recent experience as Consultant Paediatric Surgeon in an Australian tertiary-level paediatric hospital
  • Higher academic degree (Ph D, MD) with experience as an academic clinician
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in gastrointestinal motility disorders
