Payroll and HR Assistant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll and HR Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis (2-3 days a week). This role will provide essential support to our HR department by managing payroll processing, overseeing HR documentation, handling budget reporting, and assisting with various HR administrative tasks. We welcome candidates of all experience levels who are eager to learn and grow in the HR and payroll fields.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll Processing:
  • Accurately process payroll for multiple companies using Employment Hero, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
  • Maintain payroll records, process payroll changes, and resolve any payroll-related issues.
  • Prepare payroll reports and assist with payroll audits as required.
Wages Budget vs. Actual Reporting:
  • Monitor and report on wages budget vs. actual spending across all departments and venues.
HR Administrations:
  • Assist with the onboarding and offboarding process in the HR systems
  • Organise and manage employee documentation, ensuring compliance and record-keeping regulations.
  • Oversee and maintain leave and TOIL records.
  • Support HR compliance, such as maintaining work rights, visa documentation, and other required certifications.
  • Assist with employee benefits administration, including managing Perkbox and/or benefits platforms.
  • Provide administrative support to the People & Culture Manager in various HR projects and initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Proven experience in payroll processing is essential; familiarity with Employment Hero is a plus.
  • HR background is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Basic understanding of the National Employment Standards (NES) and relevant award interpretation.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in payroll, financial reporting, and HR tasks.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to respond to payroll and HR inquiries professionally and promptly.
  • Experience with Employment Hero and financial reporting tools is beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
