About the role
Radiation Oncology Medical Physicists provide a scientific service for the support of radiation treatment in Cancer Care Services at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and assist with the proper and accurate treatment of patients with cancer through scientific and technical means. The purpose of this position is to support the physics service in a temporary part-time capacity.
About you
This successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

• Participate in existing quality assurance programs for treatment unit performance and radiation treatment planning.
• Prepare tables of data, treatment times etc. for radiation beam treatments and radioactive source applications.
• Provide advice and data to planning staff in cases of unusual or non-routine radiotherapy treatments (this includes cases where special measurements are required).
• Document results and procedures (including publication in the literature) and manage databases.
• Plan brachytherapy treatments.
• Provide information on physics, computing, technology and related matters to technical and clinical groups.
• Develop and improve techniques for data management and physics applications as they arise.
• Assist in the tendering and commissioning processes for the installation of new equipment.
• Serve on various Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and professional committees.
