As a postdoctoral fellow with Edith Cowan University, and working closely with Inter Grain, you will be supported by senior research scientists on an exciting project relating oat quality characteristics. You will explore the proteins associated with variations in aroma, flavour and texture characteristics using a combination of transcriptomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics.

You will

Utilise design thinking methodology to plan and prepare research proposals.
Characterise oat grains by performing comprehensive proteomic analyses.
Explore the grain proteome, monitoring changes across different seasons, environments, and processing steps.
Use bioinformatics to define protein components that correlate with grain quality outcomes.
Collaborate with oat breeders and food companies to inform future varietal development.
To be considered in this role you must hold a Ph D in a relevant discipline area, such as proteomics or analytical biochemistry. You will also have

Experience in liquid chromatography (HPLC) and mass spectrometry (MS), preferably LC-MS/MS based proteomics.
Experience in protein biochemistry. Experience in bioinformatics and/or data science relevant to protein analysis, ideally in cereal grains.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and of establishing networks within your field.
High-level communication skills including the ability to present research outcomes at national and/or international conferences.
A sound record of publication in peer reviewed journals and/or authorship of scientific papers or reports.
You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Courage and Personal Excellence.

Benefits & Remuneration
This fixed term position is available as 0.8 FTE (4 days per week) and attracts an annual salary of $101,332 pa - $108,498 pa (paid on a pro-rata basis) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
