Project Manager - Scientific

Key Responisibilities Include

  • Map and analyse project stakeholders and initiate, influence and maintain relationships with internal and external project stakeholders to ensure they are informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle and a collaborative delivery approach is maintained.
  • Manage project governance (Project Oversight Committee) to continue representation of key suppliers, and users and facilitate Project Oversight Committee meetings to ensure that required decisions are presented and discussed.
  • Monitor, manage and deliver projects within Pathology Queensland, in accordance with Pathology Queensland and Queensland Health, and whole-of-government project standards, methodologies and policies.
  • Oversee the development, documentation and approval of all project deliverables to the required standards.
  • Actively manage project issues and risks by identifying, assessing and planning risk mitigation actions and implementing identified response actions as required.
  • Manage all aspects of project budgets and schedules within agreed tolerances, including monthly analysis and reporting of year-to-date and whole of life project progress and expenditure and project 'estimate to complete' and 'estimate at completion' expenditure forecasting.
  • Manage and direct multi-disciplinary project resources/ teams to ensure project outcomes are achieved.
  • Develop and submit monthly and other project reports as required.
Key competencies

  • Comprehensive understanding of and experience in laboratory operations across Pathology Queensland.
  • Knowledge and skills in analytical methods relevant to pathology testing.
  • Knowledge, skills and expertise in the principles of quality control and quality assurance including statistical analysis and review.
  • Knowledge and experience with Pathology Queensland's Laboratory Information System AUSLAB.
  • Proven ability to work efficiently and independently with limited supervision demonstrating initiative in problem solving and innovative solutions.
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver high-impact complex projects in a health setting in accordance with Queensland Health and Pathology Queensland's project management methodology and framework requirements.
  • High-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the proven ability to establish and manage relationships across a broad range of stakeholder groups and organisations.
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge in the creation and delivery clinical trials/research projects.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

  • The successful applicant must hold a Bachelor of Science degree, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Whilst not mandatory, a relevant qualification in project management would be well regarded.
  • Whilst not mandatory, knowledge of Queensland Health's Project Delivery Framework would be well regarded.This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia License.
