Welcome to the Category Development Team


Are you passionate about using data & insights to make a tangible difference? Do you have experience influencing your teams and business partners? If so, this is the ideal role for you!


The purpose of the Range Optimisation team is to partner with our Commercial Team to understand category strategies and achieve the best product range outcomes for our customers, i.e. bring the products our customers like & want. You will have the opportunity to work on one of the biggest strategic initiatives within the Woolworths business - to deliver a differentiated offer for our customers, leveraging our data and insights to inform how we make physical range and space decisions. Support with detailed analysis of our product and store trading patterns to identify opportunities to improve our offer through utilising and developing current and future tools. Provide frontline analysis to enable great customer outcomes through our product/category range reviews. Leveraging our industry-leading new capability that produces store-specific ranges and helps pave the way for new processes moving forward.


What you’ll do

• Identify key strategic priorities for our range optimisation program using quantitative and qualitative research
• Work with Category Managers, Planogram Planners, and Merchandise Managers to provide category range recommendations
• Use analytical tools to drive continuous improvement and evolve the ranging process in line with the company’s strategic objectives
• Support the development and rollout of new tools and processes within Food Group
Produce data & reporting, alongside creating and sharing high quality insights and presentations

What you’ll bring


You are currently an experienced Analyst with a passion for customer insights who is looking to take on a new challenge that requires expertise in driving and delivering results.

• Experience in interpreting data and deriving actionable insights to make recommendations for commercial strategies.
• Able to negotiate and influence cross-functional stakeholders
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Structured problem-solving skills and logical thought process; results-oriented & agile mindset
Strong Google & Microsoft suites required & SQL knowledge desired
