Research Fellow in Transdiagnostic Prediction

Salary: Level B – $119,231 - $141,581 p.a. plus 17% super

The Research Fellow at the Centre for Youth Mental Health will join the Ultra High Risk for Psychosis Research Team, collaborating with Orygen, the world's largest youth mental health organisation. This role focuses on conducting research to identify predictors and mechanisms associated with the onset of mental disorders in young people, utilising clinical and epidemiological datasets and predictive modeling methods. The Research Fellow will generate new research ideas, engage in publications, and seek grant funding to support independent research while being part of a collaborative team dedicated to improving youth mental health outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Make a leading contribution to the conduct of multidisciplinary studies related to predictors and mechanisms associated with transdiagnostic mental disorder in young people
- Further development of an academic research profile in the areas of youth mental health
- Actively participate at meetings and contribute to planning activities or committee work to build capacity
- Maintain a sound knowledge of current University Policy and Procedures, and reliably follow these or provide compliant advice to others
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic researcher with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a strong commitment to building an academic career in mental health. They will have excellent organisational and project management abilities, along with a proven track record in mentoring students and managing partnerships, all while effectively applying statistical methodologies to achieve research goals collaboratively and independently.
You will also have:
- Ph D in neuroscience, psychology, psychiatry, biomedical engineering or related discipline
- Demonstrated ability to supervise or co-supervise and mentor undergraduate, honours and/or Ph D students
- Strong evidence of ability and desire to build an academic career trajectory, including track record of publishing in scientific journals and participation in research projects and grants;
This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
