Role Detail

Supported by sophisticated data and Business Intelligence (BI) tools to assist in areas of financial analysis and reporting, you will work closely with the broader Finance team (including our Financial and Matter Accounting, Finance Systems and Data and Legal Project Management Teams), Executive Management and other Shared Services functions, to deliver robust financial analysis and support across all Practice Groups.

Reporting into the Planning & Reporting Manager, you will contribute to the preparation of financial analysis and monthly management reporting processes. You will be expected to provide business insights to lift financial performance and seek opportunities to continuously improve processes, leveraging our enhanced BI reporting tools as the Firm evolves.

Key elements of the role will include:

Assisting with the annual budgeting and forecast process, liaising with key stakeholders and overseeing implementation and reporting to partners.
Evaluating the profitability and performance of practice teams against budgets and identify issues and recommendations to achieve targeted results.
Preparation of reports and presentations to Senior Management and the Board and preparing ad hoc analysis as required.
Developing financial models and providing analysis for various projects across the Firm (for example assessing partner admissions, Innovation technology analysis).
Supporting the preparation of timely and accurate Management reports including providing insights and commentary
Fostering a continuous improvement environment to deliver relevant, accurate and timely financial information in an efficient manner.
Working directly with Managing Partners, Practice Team leaders and Shared Service Directors on preparation of business plans.
Revision and analysis of Quarterly Peer Monitor industry reports

About You

The role will suit someone ready to take the next step in their career, delivering ‘value add’ reporting and analysis that will drive business decisions. This is a role that will develop over time, initially taking direction from the Planning & Reporting Manager, with the opportunity to evolve into a primary contact for senior leadership. Your professionalism and ability to interact with all levels will be valued and your natural curiosity and ability to make the complex simple will set you up for success.

You will also bring:

6+ years commercial experience post-graduation in accounting, reporting and budgeting roles
Degree in Business or Commerce with Chartered Accounting, CIMA or CPA qualification
Preferably management accounting / planning experience in a Blue-Chip company, or similar disciplined environment
Commercial experience in an analytical role
Strong financial reporting, analysis, and modelling skills. Experience using an ad hoc query and analysis tool for analysis and reporting (e.g., Power BI)
Strong presentation skills and the ability to present both written and verbally to Senior Management
Ability to critically evaluate proposals and offer commercial judgements
