Salary: Academic Level C – $140,433 - $161,926 p.a. plus 17% super (pro rata for part-time)

Based at the Department of Rural Health in Ballarat, Victoria, this role focuses on organising and delivering clinical rehabilitation, aged care, and palliative care (RAP) education for third-year MD students at Grampians Health, Ballarat.
Reporting directly to the DDMSE for MD3 at the Rural Clinical School, the successful candidate will engage closely with both the Clinical School and the University, and establish strong relationships with clinical teachers and health service providers at Ballarat.
The role encompasses teaching, service, and potential research supervision, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and maintaining high standards in academic and clinical education.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver teaching and learning for Rural Clinical School students in clinical rehabilitation, aged care, and palliative care through tutorials, clinical sessions, and ward rounds at Grampians Health, Ballarat, including orientation, assessments, and examinations.
- Participate in service and leadership activities by attending meetings, contributing to Rural Clinical School committees, and managing student placements in mental health, fostering communication and supervision.
- Support research by supervising medical student research projects within the MD Research Skills training program.
You will hold a medical qualification recognised in Australia and a Fellowship of an Australian College or an equivalent postgraduate clinical qualification.
Specialising in rehabilitation, aged care, or palliative care, you must be clinically focused with a passion for academic roles, demonstrating flexibility, collaboration, compassion, and excellent communication skills.
Your experience will include clinical teaching, medical education, and curriculum delivery, and you will possess a strong commitment to developing effective relationships with medical practitioners and other health professionals.
Additionally, you will have demonstrated organisational skills, a commitment to maintaining medical education skills, and the ability to work flexibly,. Familiarity with the University of Melbourne and rural health issues is desirable.
You will also have:
- A medical qualification recognisable in Australia and Fellowship of an Australian College (e.g. FACP) or an equivalent and recognised postgraduate clinical qualification.
- Accreditation/approval by Grampians Health, Ballarat to engage with staff, patients, and students at the hospital to fulfil the responsibilities of the position.
- Hold a clinical appointment at Grampians Health, Ballarat.
This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
