About the opportunity
Are you a dynamic and strategic communications professional with a passion for shaping public perception and engaging communities? Cessnock City Council is seeking a dedicated Senior Media and Communications Officer to elevate our media presence and enhance community engagement across the Cessnock Local Government Area.In this role, you will enhance our public profile by promoting Council services, achievements, and initiatives to residents, media, and the business community. You will ensure the community is well-informed about Council activities and manage our reputation with effective reactive communications. Developing and implementing strategic communication campaigns and building strong relationships with media stakeholders will also be key to your success.

Remuneration
$96,213 - $110,645 per annum plus superannuationThe Benefits
- Full-time 35 hours per week
- Flexible work arrangement options including hybrid work arrangements, option of nine-day fortnight or monthly RDO

About you
To succeed in this role, you’ll need a degree in Communication, Public Relations, or a related field, alongside at least five years of experience in a similar role. Your background should include a proven ability to manage a wide range of communications issues and effectively liaise with the media. You will also bring demonstrated leadership experience, with a track record of leading, supporting, and mentoring team members.What's next?
