What is the role?

The Forensic Foundations and Enabling portfolio is responsible for the delivery of many underpinning services for the Forensic Command including strategy and performance, training, quality management, logistics, infrastructure, facilities and WHS across our Majura Forensic Facility and Regional Offices. This role provides an opportunity to influence continuous improvements in the way we deliver infrastructure and facility programs and projects, as well as being part of implementing the Forensic Strategy for the organisation, enabling Policing for a safer Australia.

The role of Senior Team Leader, Infrastructure and Facilities, working to the Coordinator of Forensic Foundations & Enabling, is to provide strategic leadership and initiate, plan, implement and finalise infrastructure and facility projects within time, budget, scope and resourcing constraints and expectations. This delivery is achieved through establishing and leading projects under the AFP governance framework, effective team leadership and delivering project outcomes through management of internal and external stakeholders. The role requires contemporary experience in project management and strong expertise in stakeholder engagement, management and negotiation.

The successful candidate will have the ability to lead a team, manage projects with key stakeholders across a range of levels and disciplines, excel under pressure, demonstrate an excellent ability to make sound decisions and use judgement across a range of issues. This position works in a fast-paced environment and requires the capacity to think strategically, identify opportunities and prioritise effort. It, therefore, requires a proactive and pragmatic attitude and high levels of organisational skills, self-drive and initiative. The successful candidate will be able to manage risk and work effectively to deliver high-quality advice and outcomes.

As a Senior Team Leader you also play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?
Manage the development, delivery and implementation of capital works programs and projects, including full accountability for time, cost and quality outcomes.
Manage Forensic project procurement activities and participate in the negotiation of contracts relating to the capital works projects including understanding and applying Commonwealth government capital works process and regulatory requirements.
Manage the ongoing program of forensic laboratory remediation work including the sustainability of the remediated laboratories equipment and infrastructure.
Develop and nurture internal and external professional networks and collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders to ensure the efficient and effective management of Forensic Command’s infrastructure and facilities projects.
Provide the Coordinator and Forensic Management Team with high quality advice and provide progress reports/briefings on Forensic infrastructure and facilities projects.
Contribute to Forensics Strategic Property Planning including the development, implementation and evaluation of accommodation solutions, principles, standards and policies, in order to achieve efficient and optimal use of AFP premises and resources.
Represent the AFP at various internal/external committee and stakeholder meetings.
Coordinate Forensic facilities management including oversight of all change requests and minor works across all Forensics facilities and the implementation of any remedial works following audits of laboratories.
Engage and manage relationships with JLL Facilities Managers to ensure responsibilities are being met to required standards to maintain compliance of Forensics facilities.
Manage oversight of Forensic laboratory environmental monitoring reporting and compliance.
Essential Requirements
You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role including leadership, budget management, stakeholder engagement and risk management.
Demonstrated experience in project management.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team.
Desirable Requirements

Experience delivering capital works, including refurbishments and fit out programs and projects.
