This position qualifies for a Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (pro-rata part-time/temporary positions less than 18 months), and a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued up to $10,000 (pro-rata part time), under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.

This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.
To recognise ongoing service in this role, once the successful candidate has served a qualifying period, they will become entitled to a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued up to $10,000 (as taxable income).

What you'll be doing

The purpose of the Nursing Unit Manager is to manage, lead and organise the nursing and wider multi-disciplinary team across Unit. The role of the NUM is to ensure all staff are practicing in accordance with AHPRA regulations, the code of conduct and the core Values of NSW Health as well as:

Lead and direct an appropriate and safe standard of care within a multidisciplinary team for all patients within the unit.
Monitor and manage the business and management functions and processes of the ward or unit.
As the leader of the unit, the NUM will demonstrate their capability through attitude, skills, behaviour, and attributes.
Demonstrate broad nursing/midwifery experience and knowledge.
Understanding and acceptance that patients are the central focus of service delivery.
Demonstrate professional integrity; ethical conduct, accountability, advocacy, enabling others.
Cultivation of collaborative relationships and effective teamwork.

How to Apply

Current nursing/midwifery registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written, verbal communication skills and ability to negotiate resolutions and manage conflict.
Proven ability to create and maintain a positive workplace culture and articulate and achieve a vision for nursing services in the critical care environment.
Demonstrated focus on service excellence through the ability to read and act on issues quickly, decisively and effectively. Demonstrated ability to apply and share professional expertise to enhance patient/client care. Demonstrated ability to guide others to analyse problems and apply a range of solutions.
Tertiary qualifications in nursing and/or health management or actively working toward completion of same and/or relevant management experience.
Demonstrated ability to ensure the human, physical and financial resources of the unit are managed to deliver safe and efficient health care within available resources.
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, coach, mentor, encourage and guide others to enable them to reach their full potential and effectively adapt to ongoing change within a multidisciplinary group with broad clinical experience and knowledge.
Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to use a variety of NSW Health computer applications (e.g. word processing, excel and databases).
