About the role

We are looking for a Superintendent Electrical & Control Systems to form, align and manage the electrical and control systems team under the new Supply Chain Services Asset Management division for Ports. An Opportunity to develop strategic and leadership skills in a supportive environment working across both Dampier and Cape Lambert Port operations.
This role is a great opportunity for someone who is comfortable leading a self-sufficient team of technical specialists. The role will allow the right candidate to take ownership of the Controls & Electrical Asset strategy at Cape Lambert, leading their team to achieve safety, productivity & cost improvements with these assets. Reporting to the Manager Ports, you will :
  • Build and maintain electrical obsolescence program of work
  • Manage the 10YR capital plan for electrical and control systems capital improvement & upgrade projects. This includes spend, resource allocation and priority
  • Be an inspiring role model and coach for positive behaviours, practices, and processes
  • Demonstrate an understanding and comply with the health, safety & environment policies, procedures, and initiatives
  • Be a lead relationship manager with site execution teams and central support teams
  • Drive AM process improvements including work/shut management, MPA transactions, BOM/task list/ plan update/review. Minor level tactic change implementation
  • Actively drive compliance to D7 functional safety requirements including scope development and progression of legacy functional safety – balancing the right work
  • Participate in electrical and control system defect elimination processes to optimise asset strategies and tactics
  • Provide input and process governance to ensure the correct balance of risk management across site and central teams
  • Develop and manage competency framework


What you’ll bring

  • A tertiary qualification in electrical engineering or related discipline
  • Strong leadership aptitude with good technical abilities
  • Knowledge of the following areas : Electrical Safety, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, VSDs, UPSs, HVAC, Motors, Cabling, Instrumentation, Earthing, Functional Safety, Arc Flash, Electrical Protection, Legislation, Regulations, Electrical Australian Standards, Control Systems, HMI, Process Control
  • Professional with knowledge and experience in electrical engineering and process control disciplines
  • Excellent numerical analysis and data validation skills
  • Comprehensive experience in asset management and project management principles
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Respect for others and an all-inclusive mindset
  • A Current Western Australian ‘C’ Class Driver's Licence (Manual)

Where you’ll be working
This role is being offered either FIFO from Perth or residential within Wickham or Dampier / Karratha – where you will support both Cape Lambert and Dampier Ports teams. This role will be offered on a 9 day fortnight roster – 5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off.
Our port facilities consist of four shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast at Dampier and Cape Lambert which form an essential part of our logistics process. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading.
