Job Description
-Due to an internal movement an exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Environmental Superintendent to join our well-established Safety, Health, and Environment team at our Dawson Mine in Moura, QLD. The Dawson operation is a large open-cut coal mining operation showing no signs of slowing down, estimating a whopping 16 years of operational mine life.
Reporting to the SHE Manager, as the Environmental Superintendent you will be required to facilitate the management of the environment function at our Dawson Mine in Moura, QLD.
This role will play a pivotal part in the overall management of the environment function for the mine, providing timely guidance and service to operational personnel to ensure delivery of the mine’s performance targets and compliance to corporate and legislative requirements. In this role you will lead a small team of environmental professionals to achieve and maintain compliance with all relevant environmental authorities, legislation, and regulations.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to advance your mining career in a large dynamic open cut mining environment and to gain experience across many different disciplines as an environmental professional.

Overview/Requirements:
- You will be responsible for leading innovation, development, and support of the site environmental programs
- Providing guidance and service to operational personnel and relevant external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of the Environmental Plan, including compliance to corporate and legislative requirements
- Management of the EA provisions across multi-site boundaries and ensuring governance and adherence to these provisions
- Managing large mine site rehabilitation operations both striving for innovation and industry best practice
- Internal/external stakeholder management with key stakeholders (including our cultural heritage partners and the relevant government reporting bodies)
- Developing plans, documentation, and coordinating Government approvals
- Co-ordinating and managing all environmental and heritage matters
- Ensuring compliance with environmental licence and statutory requirements
- Provision of environmental advice and support
- Taking a lead role in the development of the Environmental Management System
- Coordinate and supervise environmental monitoring and inspections
- Coordinate environmental rehabilitation programmes
- Assistance with preparation and management of the environmental budget
- Lead environmental incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Demonstrated experience contributing to a team of professionals to deliver against set targets
- Proven success in the supervising teams and individuals in an effective manner, with the ability to coach, mentor, and support employee development in a positive manner.
- A sound working knowledge of assay laboratories and sample processing.
- A knowledge of, and commitment to, safety systems and practices within the Mining Industry.
- Good computer literacy including aptitude with the Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to prepare reports and compile data.
Qualifications
- -Proven Environmental experience in Resources or Mining (Preferably Coal)
- Demonstrate leadership skills within the Environmental Field
- Have knowledge of Environmental Management System ISO 14001
- A degree in an Environmental discipline will be highly regarded
- Experience at a Superintendent level
- Have sound knowledge of State and Federal environmental legislation
