YHA Australia is a profit for purpose organisation, offering unique, affordable, and sustainable accommodation across Australia. With around 500,000 members, we have been providing curious travellers quality short-stay accommodation for over 80 years in support of our mission to help create a more open and accommodating world where life flourishes.

Currently, we have a network of 49 properties across the country with facilities like on-site pools, open-air rooftops, bars, cafes and coworking spaces. About the role:

As the Visual Designer for YHA, you will support the creation visually striking assets that engage our diverse audience. Your role will involve leading the application of YHA’s brand design across all marketing materials and producing captivating digital and print assets. Your contributions will be crucial in shaping YHA’s image both online and offline on our journey of growth.

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Visual Designer is key to our marketing team’s goal of boosting membership engagement, building brand credibility, and establishing YHA as a leader in ethical, sustainable travel within Australian tourism.

Key responsibilities:

• Visual Branding: Lead the implementation of YHA’s brand design across all marketing materials, ensuring consistency and creativity in every project.
• Marketing Design: Design and produce compelling digital and print assets, including social media campaigns, signage, and promotional materials.
• Resource Development: Develop and maintain design resources, providing training to ensure best practices across the organisation.
• Collaboration & Innovation: Work closely with cross-functional teams to bring innovative design ideas to life, staying ahead of trends and ensuring YHA's brand remains fresh and engaging.

What we’re looking for:

• Mid-weight to senior designer competent in supporting multiple stakeholders.
• Proven experience in both digital and graphic design, with a strong portfolio highlighting your skills across digital (including social media and video) and print mediums.
• Proficiency in design software such as In Design, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, or similar tools.
• A keen eye for detail, with the ability to balance creativity with brand consistency.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and collaborate effectively with different teams.
• Passion for travel and an understanding of YHA's commitment to sustainability and social impact.
• A sound understanding UI / UX principals and related design experience is highly desirable.
• Experience in hospitality services marketing, preferably in the travel or tourism sector would be ideal but not necessary.
