The Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage (ACDH-CH), Division of Musicology, of
the Austrian Academy of Sciences (Oe AW), Austria’s leading non-university research institution, is offering
a position as

ACADEMY SCIENTIST (F/M/X)
(part-time / 30h per week)

The position is located at the interface between historical and digital musicology.

Your tasks:

• Musicological research on the 19th and early 20th centuries, focusing especially on Music History in

Austria or Viennese Modernism

• Testing and applying digital techniques and methods in the context of musicological issues

• Participation in the planning phase of new research projects regarding digital project aspects

• Participation in the digital preparation, web presentation, and long-term archiving of various research

projects (with a focus on the 19th and 20th centuries)

• Organization and realization of scholarly conferences

• Acquisition of third-party funding

Your profile:

• Ph D in Musicology

• Familiarity with established XML-based encoding methods (TEI, MEI) as well as common methods,

techniques, and tools of the Digital Humanities (Oxygen, Git, etc.)

• Reliable handling of music-specific metadata

• Networking in the relevant scholarly communities

• Readiness to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries

• Experience in coordinating research projects that include a digital component

• Capability for teamwork

• Proficiency in working independently

We offer an annual gross salary of € 49.876,05 (aliquot) according to the salary scheme of the Austrian
Academy of Sciences. Depending on your experience, a higher salary is negotiable. The employment starts
on December 01st, 2024, at the earliest and is initially limited to 12 months with the option of an extension.
