Join Bitpanda as an Anti-Financial Crime Compliance Senior Associate and be part of our innovative team breaking down barriers to personal finance ensuring a secure and trustworthy financial ecosystem. Your role will be pivotal in supporting the governance of our AFC Compliance program and for the development of trustworthy business relationships with other financial institutions, fintechs, and crypto asset providers, while making a meaningful impact in preventing financial crime.
What you'll do
- Transaction Monitoring and Source of Funds Verification: Conduct thorough reviews and verifications of the source of funds for high-risk clients, assess the legitimacy of clients' funds through the analysis of financial documents and transaction histories, oversee transaction monitoring to identify suspicious activities, ensure all findings and decisions are documented in compliance with regulatory requirements, and collaborate with the AML Officer (AMLO) for effective case management and follow-up on reported incidents.
- Politically Exposed Person (PEP) & Sanctions Screening: Conduct comprehensive screening of clients against PEP and international sanctions lists, ensuring the identification of individuals or entities subject to enhanced due diligence (EDD). Regularly review and update client risk classifications, assess potential exposure to sanctioned individuals or entities, and ensure that appropriate actions are taken for any positive hits.
- Policy Development and Maintenance: Assist in the development, review, and update of AML/CFT policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance, while ensuring their effective communication and implementation across the organisation.
- Execution of Quality Controls: Assist in conducting regular quality control checks to ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures. Through this, you help identify areas for improvement, provide recommendations to enhance compliance and operational efficiency, and ensure that any findings from quality control are documented and addressed in a timely manner.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with Legal, Risk Management, Product, and Operations departments to ensure a coordinated approach to financial crime compliance, and communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders by providing regular updates on investigative activities and issues.
Who you are
- Educational Background: You possess a degree in Law, Finance, Economics, or a related field, with a strong preference for candidates with a robust legal background. Your academic journey equips you to understand and navigate complex regulatory environments seamlessly.
- Relevant Experience: While prior experience in compliance, finance, or the crypto industry is not required, any exposure to related fields through internships, academic projects, or part-time work will be considered an advantage. We value a strong willingness to learn, attention to detail, and an interest in understanding relevant AML legislation, such as the FM-GWG or similar EU laws.
- Language Proficiency: You possess excellent written and oral English skills, ideally complemented by German and other key European languages (such as French, Italian, or Spanish). Your exceptional communication and presentation skills enable you to analyse financial documents across languages, clearly articulating complex ideas to support Bitpanda's mission of making finance accessible to everyone.
- Analytical and Research Skills: You possess strong analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail, enabling you to excel in investigative tasks in the area of Anti-Financial crime and identify optimization opportunities, contributing effectively to solutions. You enjoy conducting research, particularly related to relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines from national authorities, to ensure compliance with legal requirements in all aspects of your work.
- Organisational Skills: You demonstrate strong organisational skills, allowing you to manage multiple tasks effectively, even in a fast-paced environment. You may have gained initial experience supporting projects through academic work, internships, or part-time roles. You strive to meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality results, ensuring all tasks are completed to a high standard.
- We're proud of our flexible working model that includes 2 days (minimum) working from the local Hub, plus 60 Work From Anywhere days annually
