The mission of Group Internal Audit Vice Presidency (GIAVP) is to protect and enhance the value of the World Bank by providing independent, objective, and insightful risk-based assurance and advice. GIA provides an independent view on whether processes for managing and controlling risks to achieve the World Bank's goals, and overall governance of these processes, are adequately designed and functioning effectively. GIA's work is carried out in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Professional Practice Framework. GIA reports to the President and is under the oversight of the Audit Committee.

GIAVP is headed by the Vice President (VP) and Auditor General (AG), who is responsible for setting the mission and vision, building strong partnerships with Senior Management and the Audit Committee, and providing value-adding assurance and advisory services that meet the institution’s needs. The Director of Strategy and Operations is responsible for supporting the AG in the effective and efficient development and execution of GIA’s work program.
GIA functions through six distinct pods:
(1) Office of the Vice-President and Auditor General; and, in the Delivery Team under the Office of the Director of Strategy and Operations: (2) Professional Practices and Innovation (PPI); (3) Development Operations; (4)-Corporate Processes and Finance; (5) Information Technology; and (6) Regional Team.
RECRUITMENT
The Audit Analyst recruitment is for the Regional Team in the Brussels office. The regional team is split between HQ and Brussels and is responsible for delivering the country assurance and advisory program, including Ukraine Oversight. It provides assurance and advice to the WBG Country Offices and relevant HQ units by assessing governance, internal controls, and risk management of in-country processes. It also develops business, risk, and political economy analysis and targets preventive knowledge services for management. The multi-disciplinary and cross-functional team is responsible for delivering valuable and timely engagements while collaborating and coordinating with GIA’s pods and WBG’s oversight units. The Team is headed by a Regional Manager based in Brussels.
Scope and responsiblities:
The Audit Analyst will contribute to (i) the planning, execution, reporting, and delivery of assurance and advisory engagements and business, risk, and knowledge products, (ii) risk assessment and work program development, and (iii) key strategic initiatives within GIA. The Audit Analyst typically work in teams supporting the Auditor in Charge. Assignments include supporting the teams with:

Performing risk assessment of the World Bank Group’s country offices around the seven regions and supporting dynamic risk assessment and work program development

Conducting audit planning and fieldwork and delivering high-quality assurance and advisory reports that meet GIA’s professional practice and quality standards including:
- Supporting GIA in collaborating with other internal risk management and oversight units to identify areas of coordinated assurance.

Capturing critical business knowledge relevant to audits, sharing the knowledge with all staff, and building a robust knowledge base of the organization’s public sector activities within GIA.

Ensuring the integration of application auditing and usage of data analytics where possible and relevant.

Leading and participating in initiatives as assigned by the supervisor/manager/director.
Selection Criteria
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and relevant professional credentials (e.g., Certified Internal Auditor; Certified Information Systems Auditor; Certified Risk Manager; Chartered Financial Analyst; Certified Forensic Accountant; Certified Public Accountant, etc.). Non-holders would be required to obtain, at a minimum, with GIA’s support, the Certified Internal Auditor Practitioner accreditation within two years of assuming the role.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in one or more areas relating to risk management, internal controls, compliance, governance and/or talent management, preferably in Big 4 firms, financial institutions, international organizations, large non-profit organizations, or multilateral companies, or similar environment. A background in the private as well as the public sector would be an asset.
- Knowledge of leading internal audit practices, including understanding of risks and controls in the development sector environment. Institutional knowledge and experience working at the WBG, or similar multilateral institutions are a plus.
- Knowledge and experience of the World Bank Group's business, operations, policies, instruments, and systems are highly desirable.
- A track record of research and publications on audit, business, and program evaluations in thematic and sectoral areas and governance. Experience in analytical and quantitative skills for policy, economic, and financial analysis is a plus.
- Ability to manage numerous competing demands and priorities, respond quickly to management requests, and set priorities for self and others.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communications, and diplomatic skills. Oral and written communications (in English); emphasis on precision and clarity. Proven communication skills in working with peers and management and diplomatic skills in engaging with development partners and donors of the Regional Team.
- The ability to communicate in another main language would be a plus.
- Maintaining a continuous improvement mindset, embracing agility, and being open to change.
- Proactive and innovative, with an open and collegial work style with an ability to listen and integrate ideas from diverse views, create partnerships, and collaborate with others.
- Ability to analyze data using leading technology (Power BI, Azure, etc.). Mastery of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, One Drive, Share Point, etc.).
- Lead and Innovate - Fosters open discussions with broad audiences to set the vision and establish buy-in for innovation that can enhance WBG effectiveness. Inspires others to develop innovative solutions that have a development impact and advocates for change and the application of new methods to enhance results. Proactively guides clients to see the possibilities in innovative approaches and solutions. Takes full accountability for managing risk and ensuring outcomes consistent with WBG strategy.
- Collaborate within Teams and Across Boundaries - Clearly articulates and models expectations of collaborative behavior, recognizes collaboration and contributions of others. Provides a safe environment for the exchange of ideas where people feel free to express dissenting opinions, handling conflicts as opportunities and problems to be solved. Prioritizes WBG corporate goals over individual or team goals when in conflict.

Is known across the World Bank and externally in their subject area and is routinely sought out by WBG colleagues to advise, peer review, or contribute to knowledge products of others. Builds networks of experts and clients to share knowledge and experience for the purpose of strengthening internal and/or external client solutions as well as the World Bank's role as convener and facilitator of knowledge.
