Department: Digital Citizenship Department (Dig Ci-Coms Trainee-2024-4)
European Schoolnet (EUN) is looking for one new communication trainee to join its
Digital Citizenship department in Brussels. The trainees will actively support the
communication activities of the department and will have the opportunity to support
the largest online safety project handled by the department on behalf of the European
Commission: the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) project.
The goal of the BIK initiative is to increase access to high-quality online content for
children and young people, step up awareness and empowerment, create a safe
environment for children online, and fight against child sexual abuse and child sexual
exploitation. Moreover, the project provides a coordination role to the European
Network of Safer Internet Centres.
Main tasks
This list is for indicative purposes only. It will be adapted to meet the priorities of the
organisation and in response to skills demonstrated by the trainee. Tasks will include:
- Updating and maintaining websites.
- Writing news and articles on projects and activities pertaining to digital
- Managing the content of newsletters.
- Updating and monitoring social media accounts, including Facebook, X

- Planning and running communications campaigns.
- Editing and producing promotional materials (posters, banners, videos, etc.).
- Assisting the department’s project managers with associated events.
- Attending project meetings with partners and other stakeholders.
- Assisting with the production of project deliverables and reporting.

Profile and skills
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, journalism, media studies or

- Very good spoken and written English plus at least one other EU language.
- Attention to detail and being able to work independently.
- A basic knowledge of HTML and previous experience with web content
