You will be involved at every stage of credit transactions, while also providing legal advice and support to different business sectors in Belgium and abroad. The details
As Senior Legal Adviser, you will organise and deliver support to all B2B sectors on legal aspects related to granting loans, issuing bank guarantees and documentary credits.
Your role will feature a unique combination of transactional and advisory work:

• You will assist in credit files at all stages, from structuring to signing contracts, while also providing your legal expertise.
• You will support the departments responsible for restructuring and bankruptcies, both in Belgium and abroad.
• You will provide daily advice to the various B2B branches, whether they are operational departments throughout the life of loans (such as adjusting relevant documents, collateral or refinancing, etc.) or their customers.
• You will also contribute your expertise when monitoring projects or disputes related to import and export activities.
• You will assess the legal and reputational risks for the bank and will play a role in producing and updating legal guidelines.

Your talents and skills
To meet the needs of this role and develop within it, you should have the following skills and qualities:

• You have common sense and focus on properly understanding the needs of internal customers.
• You manage your cases flexibly, proactively and independently, but you like sharing your knowledge and working with your fellow legal specialists.
• You combine strong legal analysis, communication, negotiation and persuasion skills, helping you to handle cases pragmatically while also ensuring legal compliance.
• You have relevant initial experience in the banking sector or in a legal firm.
• You have an excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word and Outlook.
• You are trilingual – fluent in French, English and Dutch, both written and spoken.
• You have a Master’s degree in law from a Belgian university. A specialisation in banking and financial law is a real advantage.
