ABOUT YOUR ROLE:
Are you passionate about partnering with luxury brands who create products our clients crave? Our team of trendsetters and brand builders constantly create original brands, develop new product categories and start trends. Some of next season’s most in-demand items may not even exist yet, but you’ll see them here first! As the Assistant Merchant, you will support with driving the brand strategies, product assortment, sourcing of new brands, negotiations, and achieving category goals. Join Sephora's Merchandising team and help define what beauty means to our clients!
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Build detailed weekly/monthly sales analyses on current trends and brand/product performance while supporting the team to identify new business opportunities
- Lead brand assortments, including productivity and timeliness of updates for brand portfolios
- Support the Merchant in the creation and execution of brand/product strategies and build robust launch strategies for key brands/products to secure best-in-class leads and drive category sales growth
- Handle vendor negotiations for testers/damages, Return to Vendor (RTV) and samples and coordinate vendor collections for gratis/social requests
- Review and approve all in-store brand visual elements, handle the planograms for all multi-branded spaces, and provide visual merchandising recommendations to brands to drive higher sales and productivity
- Maintain SKU creation and maintenance, Invoice Review Queue, and markdown chargeback process while providing support to our field teams with category related issues via our Hotline Online tool
- Collaborate with the Planning team, Dot Ca, and Sephora US to handle inventory and sales forecasting
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- You have a Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in retail management or a related field and 2+ years of experience being a buyer/merchandiser/planner for a major retailer
- You are curious and willing to take calculated risks to source and develop new opportunities to grow the business
- You love product (beauty is your jam), understand consumer trends and behaviour, and inspire fearlessness in everything that you do
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment and relish in working collaboratively with cross-functional groups
- You've mastered the art of negotiation and love solving problems using your analytical skills
- You're technically savvy and have experience using merchant systems and MS Office suite
- You understand the Canadian marketplace and corresponding vendor organization and have knowledge of the Canadian cosmetic industry, corresponding Health Canada regulations, and requirements for product compliance in Canada
- Fluently bilingual in French and English (written and spoken) is an asset
