Who are the Wilder?
The Wilder is a social enterprise which creates experiences for people to learn about nature, to connect with each other, and to inspire creativity. We host workshops from mushroom foraging to plant walks, community events, art installations and activations for festivals and events.
We are looking for someone to work with our Director and support upcoming projects. We are looking for people experienced in event coordination and/or site management or production, event or art installation and fabrication. The Event Manager/s will support our winter lights experience.
Who are you?
We are flexible about who we bring on board because we love diverse interests and skills and we encourage diverse applicants to apply. We are looking for someone to work part time initially and then full time for our winter exhibition. The hours are flexible, require some weekend work, and we have a strong preference for at least one candidate to be based in Squamish. We expect the candidate/s to work on some or all of the following tasks, and during interviews we welcome candidates to share their interests and ideas:
· Creative ideating about installations and activations
· Painting, fabricating, setting up activations, installing lights and installations
· Event coordination, logistics, volunteer and staff coordination
· Site setup safety management, technical support, troubleshooting, being everywhere at once
· Pre-event work from arranging advertising and sponsorship contracts, to working on our ticketing site, securing vendors etc
We are looking for someone or two people to join our team who possesses some of the following skills and interests:
· Creative, artistic (desirable but not essential)
· Has a positive and can-do attitude, and who loves learning and thinking outside the box
· Must have a flexible work schedule as we will be busier at certain times around events, available weekends and some weekdays and can align working time with our Director’s work days
· Can operate independently with motivation and drive, reporting to our Director but taking on projects and tasks independently and sticking to deadlines
· Can manage multiple tasks, making sure our events and activations run seamlessly, who can solve problems and adapt on the fly
· Event experience is absolutely essential
· Tech savvy and confident using online technologies, and a bonus if interested in digital art, or installation art/set production or at least willing to learn and help out where needed
· Squamish candidates preferred, however we would consider hiring someone based in the lower mainland, BC who can get themselves to and who is willing to work in Squamish one day per week in the lead up to the event, then on-site in Squamish each event day
· Must be able to work from home and have your own phone and computer, access to internet
- we do have wage funding support available for this role through PLT Canada which supports work experience for youth 30 and under. For this program candidates must be aged 30 and under, be Canadian permanent residents/citizens or refugees. If you are eligible for this wage funding please indicate this in your application. Not meeting these requirements will not affect your application as we want to hear from both highly experienced candidates and those earlier in their careers who we can support with work experience.

We expect that the candidate will earn anywhere from $25 - $30 per hour depending on their experience, and a fluctuating schedule from 20 - 36 hours per week depending on the time, and be on site for each night of our winter event. They will work in a hybrid remote role, working in Squamish sometimes, and from home the rest of the time. We aim to create a positive, open learning environment where our team can shine and grow through our initiatives.
