What role you will play in our team
The Kearl Environment and Regulatory (E&R) Student is responsible to provide support to the Kearl E&R Team. The Kearl E&R Team manages environmental and regulatory compliance programs at Kearl for all environmental aspects, i.e. air, water, wildlife, waste, incidents. The E&R Student will be located at Imperial’s head office in Quarry Park, Calgary, and will work a Monday to Friday schedule. The anticipated start date for this position is 8 January 2025, and is a 12-month term.
What you will do
Primary job duties include assisting the Kearl E&R and Emergency Preparedness and Response (EP&R) Advisors with management of environmental monitoring and emergency response programs, supporting environmental initiatives, and assisting the team with internal and external reporting. This position will be supporting E&R and EP&R Advisors located at Kearl and in Calgary, and reports to the Kearl E&R and EP&R Supervisor in Calgary. The position will require ability to travel to Kearl, our oil sands mine site located north of Fort Mc Murray, as needed.
About you
Skills and Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a relevant science, engineering, or technology program at a post-secondary institution, and must be returning to school following the internship. University and college programs are acceptable.
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
- Preference will be given to Indigenous candidates, particularly those from the Wood Buffalo Region
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal oversight
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Technical proficiency in Excel, One Note, Share Point
